Michael Rosenfeld
Michael Rosenfeld is a lawyer with significant experience working with the non-profit and charitable sector.In his capacity as Special Counsel in Public Interest and Charity Law at Sparke Helmore Lawyers and as the firm’s Executive Counsel in Pro Bono & Community Programs, he leads a pro bono practice that provides both strategic and legal advice to the full spectrum of non-profit organisations, from small incorporated associations to national foundations and charities. He also routinely engages with the non-profit sector in generating community partnerships, fundraising, volunteering, mentoring and other community engagement activities within the firm.
Michael has been involved with Hunter Community Foundation from inception and played a key role in pro bono work to help establish the Foundation and its charitable trusts. He appreciates the outcomes a community foundation can achieve for Newcastle and the Hunter Region and the potential it offers to empower philanthropy and community and social causes through a proactive and sustainable grants program.
He speaks at conferences, universities and community forums on ethics, pro bono and matters affecting the non-profit and charitable sector. Michael also has a background in psychology, social welfare, occupational health & safety, and rehabilitation counselling.
