The Hunter Community Foundation (the Foundation) is an independent not-for-profit organisation with tax deductible and deductible gift recipient status.
The Foundation has been established to provide a unique vehicle for the people of the Hunter region to maximise the value and target the effectiveness of their donations to their community.
The Foundation offers individuals, families, corporations and charitable organisations a different and more sustained way of giving something of real and lasting value back to the community of the Hunter Region.
The strategic aim of the Foundation is to improve the well-being and prosperity of the Hunter community by working together with individuals, families, corporations and charitable organisations to build and support community needs across the Hunter region for now and for the future.
The Foundation operates across the entire Hunter region encompassing eleven local government areas. These local government areas are: Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Port Stephens Great Lakes, Gloucester, Dungog, Maitland, Cessnock, Singleton, Muswellbrook and the Upper Hunter which combined have over 600,000 people within the region.
The Foundation is dedicated to supporting the Hunter region across a wide range of projects, programs and initiatives, including: Education, Health, Heritage, Environment and Arts and Culture.
